While the theme of Kelly and Cody’s wedding, January 24th, was stated as a winter wonderland there was definitely an underlying theme that stole the spotlight; superheroes. The couple started dating in their sophomore year of high school and throughout their years together, Cody remained Kelly’s superhero.

Both wore traditional wedding attire – Cody in a black tuxedo with white shirt and white tie, while Kelly wore a strapless gown with beaded detailing on the bust. The dress pleated into the skirt, a beautiful look. Her red hair was curled and hung over her shoulder. In her hair a fascinator of crystals sparkled. While the bride carried a bouquet of blue feathers and crystal brooches, Cody also chose a feather to pin in his lapel, but within the feathers was an Ironman figure. In fact each of the groomsmen had a different superhero pinned to his lapel. And while it is usually the bride who has something secret tucked under her wedding dress, such as sassy shoes or a garter, this time it was the groom and his groomsmen. Cody’s Superman cufflinks should have been a hint that there was more than a mere mortal celebrating his wedding. As the men ripped open their shirts, their true identities were revealed, each a different superhero who matched their boutonnieres! The bridesmaids kept their true identities hidden for the day and chose simple elegance for their style with blue floor-length gowns.

The couple had an indoor wedding ceremony with candles and fake snow lining the aisles. The couple chose the music to play during the vows. A cocktail reception outdoors followed the vows. Then guests were ushered inside for the dinner where tables were decorated with an icy blue tablecloth with blue and silver ornaments and fake snow. Candles glowed on each table and illuminated the centerpieces of tree branches with crystals falling from each one.

In front of the bride and groom’s table read a sign saying After all this time? The response was Always, the line made famous by Harry Potter’s Severus Snape regarding Harry’s mother. The maid of honor and her sister sang a song together before Kelly and Cody spun on the dance floor to Then by Brad Paisley. Things livened up with everyone joining in for a choreographed version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

The wedding cake was an inverted cake of three layers, the smallest layer on bottom, covered in blue frosting and crystal sparkles all held up by none other than Ironman. Favors were marshmallows and hot chocolate in a glass ball ornament.
