It was a Valentine’s Day wedding, but anything but a typical affair. They met while Jenny, a sports reporter, was covering baseball for the New England Sports Network while Will was playing infield for the Red Sox. They were married on February 14, 2016.
Jenny modeled a bedazzled, semi-sweetheart style gown with a ruffled-in-texture floor-length skirt – standing atop a pair of bejeweled, peep-toe Jimmy Choo heels. Her 11 bridesmaids all sported ruched, tea-length gowns in shades of purple and gray, matching their bouquets of white and purple hydrangeas and roses. The Flower Girl also sported a ruffled purple dress and silver sandals.
The groom donned a checkered, gray three-piece suit and purple tie, accented with a rose on his lapel. His seven groomsmen wore lighter gray suits, also with purple neckties and a rose on the lapel.
Jenny and Will were married outside at the end of a plush red carpet flanked by purple and white rose petals. Jenny’s cousin accompanied the ceremony on acoustic guitar, and their dog “Bo” – the ring bearer – also sported a purple necktie. The ceremony featured roses for the mothers, various readings, and the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass.
Guests enjoyed a plated dinner starting with mixed-greens salads with cucumber strips, mandarin oranges, fresh berries, and feta. The main course included chicken filled with prosciutto and provolone cheese and braised beef short ribs, served with twice baked potatoes, and fresh green beans.
The wedding cake was two tiered, the bottom layer resembling white rose petals – all crowned by a simple silver “Mr & Mrs” cake topper. The cake was accompanied by a slew of chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet cupcakes with frosting in differing shades of purple.
The Best Man, Carson, met Will while they were playing for the Red Sox, and recounted the first story Will ever told him about Jenny. The Maid of Honor, Jenny’s sister, told stories from their childhood. She was just married six weeks earlier, and expressed her love for how they were able to plan their weddings together.
Jenny and Will’s first dance was to “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” by Ingrid Michaelson – joined halfway through by the bride’s sister and her husband. The Father/Daughter Dance was to “Daddy Dance With Me” by Krystal Keith, while the Mother/Son Dance was to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts.
The reception also featured a video footage from the beautiful ceremony held earlier on this very special Valentine’s Day.
