They met at a concert at Tempe Marketplace, and on Sunday, March 20, 2016, Amanda and Matt were wed.
Amanda donned a sweetheart-cut wedding gown with an extremely ruffled hem – the elegant ruffles reaching above the knee and backed by a lengthy veil pinned to her knotted, brunette hair. Her seven bridesmaids all wore unique dresses, ranging from a green-patterned mini dress to a soft pink sheath gown. Each member held a posy bouquet of light pink roses and white hydrangeas.
Matt wore a black suit with a white shirt and black bowtie – his jacket accented with a white pocket square and his lapel pinned with a white rose. His four groomsmen wore black trousers with black suspenders pinned with white roses, and soft pink neckties.
During Amanda and Matt’s outdoor ceremony, the officiant told the story of their relationship, of how Matt let his guard down for Amanda, and how they’re always laughing, having fun together, and playing like kids. Guests are told how Amanda is supportive, and how Matt is sweet, and how they are both teammates and best friends. Family members did readings and gave letters of advice, Matt and Amanda had a unity candle ceremony, and even their little white dog got in on the fun.
At the reception, a plated dinner was served of chicken stuffed with prosciutto and beef tenderloin along with twice-baked potatoes and ginger carrots. A lemon and chocolate, four-tiered wedding cake was on display, adorned with pink and white roses, with a script “Mr. & Mrs.” cake topper.
During toasts, a bridesmaid Josie said she believes Amanda and Matt met each other for a beautiful purpose, while Raquel, Joanna, and Jennifer also gave their love and thanked the guests. Amanda’s stepfather expressed how a successful marriage is an achievement, while Matt’s father thanked the new couple, and said he was happy to welcome Amanda to the family.
Amanda and Matt’s first dance was to “Verdade” by Zeca Pagodinho, the Mother/Son Dance was to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, and the Father/Dance Dance was to “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder. Amanda also danced with her grandfather to “You Are the Sunshine of My Life,” also by Stevie Wonder.
Also during the reception, Amanda and Matt presented a live song together as a surprise, and Matt performed with his dance crew. As they left under the traditional sparkler farewell, we wished the new couple the best of luck.
