Devan & Dominic ~ February 12, 2016

Red-Wedding-Villa-Siena (11)When Devan and Dominic met while working at P.F. Chang’s, they may not have known they’d be married on Friday, February 12, 2016.

Devan modeled a beaded, ivory Christina Wu wedding dress with a mermaid hem and semi-sweetheart neckline. A white-laced flower pinned a short veil in her hair, and she held a bouquet of paper flowers she happened to have made herself. Her bridesmaids all wore black tea-length dresses with red heels, and also held bouquets of bride-made paper flowers.

Dominic donned a three-piece suit, consisting of black trousers and black tailcoat, plus a red vest and necktie. A flower handmade by the bride pinned his lapel.

During the ceremony, the story of how they met was told – and how Devan made the first move – and guests were asked to stand as a symbol of their support. Marital advice also followed: “We don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives,” and, “Marry someone who makes you smile because it is only a smile that can brighten a dark day.” The bride and groom each gave a rose to their mother as a symbol of their eternal love.

The caterers served a dinner starting with a salad of mixed greens, carrots, pears, tomatoes, vinaigrette, and Parmesan cheese crisps, followed by grilled, chipotle-glazed chicken breast with fresh green beans and potatoes au gratin. The single-tier, black and red wedding cake sat atop a cupcake tower. There were three kinds of cupcakes: vanilla cake with red buttercream frosting and raspberry compote, red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, and devil’s food cake with chocolate buttercream.

During toasts, Devan’s Maid of Honor expressed how the bride is not only her cousin, but her best friend. The Best Man has been Dominic’s best friend for over 20 years, and advised the couple to take care of each other.

Devan and Dominic’s First Dance was to “Take My Hand” by Emily Hackett. The Father/Daughter Dance was to Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight,” while the Mother/Son Dance was to “Summer Wind” by Frank Sinatra. Guests were gifted bottles of olive oil from Queen Creek Olive Mill.

We wish the best to Devan and Dominic and their many years ahead.
