Alexander and Jannah, who met when they were in high school, became man and wife on June 30, 2017.
Jannah selected a sophisticated fit-and-flare strapless trumpet gown with a subtle sweetheart neckline, buttons down the back, and all-over embroidery and crystal embellishments. She accessorized with a waist-length veil with a beaded edge. She carried a bouquet of multicolored roses and baby’s breath tied with a white ribbon. Her six bridesmaids wore coordinating full-length champagne-colored gowns in a variety of silhouettes, and carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet.
Alexander and his four groomsmen dressed to impress in classic three-piece tuxedos with black bow ties and white rose boutonnieres.
During the indoor ceremony, the officiant said that life is given to us as individuals, but we must all learn to live together. Jannah and Alexander performed a sand ceremony to symbolize the merging of their lives.
Guests dined on Caribbean chicken, sliced beef tenderloin, potatoes au gratin, and ravioli. Wedding favors were mints in packaging with the couple’s name.
During the toasts, Jannah’s maid of honor told the couple they now get to make their own rules and choose their own path together; Alexander’s best man, his brother, said that although he is the older brother, he still looks up to Alexander, and that there is no other person than Jannah who is right for him. Alexander’s father said that Jannah is already like a daughter to him, and said that Alexander can always come to him for advice. Jannah’s father said that Alexander is a great man, and he can see the love he has for his daughter.
Jannah and Alexander shared their first dance as a married couple to “I’m in Love With You” by Erykah Badu. Jannah and her father danced to “Babyfather” by Sade, and Alexander and his mother danced to “Mother’s Love” by Kem.
Each level of the three-tiered wedding cake had a different decoration — white-on-white paisley design, silver sparkle, and white with a silver ribbon. Pink fondant flowers decorated the cake as well.
Jannah and Alexander honeymooned in Hawaii. We wish them nothing but love and joy in their new marriage!
