Lauren & Sam ~ November 11, 2017

Lauren and Sam, who met when they were student athletes at the University of Maryland, were married on November 11, 2017.

Lauren chose a sophisticated sleeveless sheath dress with a plunging V neckline, jeweled belt detail, and sheer illusion back. Her accessories included a jeweled headband. Her bouquet was composed of a variety of white flowers accented with eucalyptus leaves. Her three bridesmaids wore full-length, off-the-shoulder red dresses with sweetheart necklines, and carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet.

Sam looked sharp in a classic tuxedo with black vest, black bow tie, black pocket square, and white rose boutonniere. His three groomsmen dressed to match him, with black straight ties instead of bow ties.

At the ceremony, one of the bridesmaids spoke, and Lauren and Sam read personal vows to each other.

Inside at the reception, guests ate salad with raspberry dressing, butternut squash ravioli, chicken, steak, and green beans.

During the speeches, Lauren’s father said he’s not losing a daughter, he’s gaining a son. The best man, Sam’s brother, said how proud he is of Sam and who he has become, and that he admires Sam’s drive in sports and in his relationship. One of the maids of honor joked that she was Lauren’s good luck charm because Lauren met Sam not long after she met Lauren. Another maid of honor talked about growing up with Lauren’s family, and how grateful she was for their friendship.

Sam and Lauren danced for the first time as man and wife to “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett. Lauren and her father danced to “As You Dance,” and Sam and his mother danced to “What a Wonderful World.”

The three-tiered all-white wedding cake featured a brushed frosting design, a cascade of fondant flowers, and a topper with the couple’s last initial. The groom’s cake was baseball-themed and had a topper of a groom pitching to a bride.
