Julia and Rizwan who met while working as technicians in a cancer research lab at ASU, celebrated their marriage on December 22, 2018.
Julia looked stunning in a sophisticated fit-and-flare gown with cap sleeves, a lace bodice, and a flared skirt with a train. Her accessories included drop earrings, a multi-strand pearl bracelet, and a full-length veil. Her reception attire also included a traditional Chinese dress and a sari. Her bouquet was composed of a variety of flowers in shades of white, pink, red, and burgundy, accented with pinecones, eucalyptus, and other greenery. Her four bridesmaids wore individual full-length dresses in shades of red, pink, and blush, and carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet.
Rizwan wore a three-piece blue suit with a blue vest, white shirt, white tie, white pocket square, and white flower boutonniere. His four groomsmen wore three-piece blue suits with blue vests, white shirts, red ties, red pocket squares, and white flower boutonnieres.
During the meal, guests dined on a mixed-greens salad with strawberries, apples, grapes, feta cheese, and poppy-seed vinaigrette dressing; a blend of rice, quinoa, peppers, and sweet potatoes; tomato ravioli; baked Dover sole stuffed with snow crab; and flatiron steak.
Several people spoke during the toasts, including the groom’s sister, who likened Julie and Rizwan to puzzles pieces that are different, but fit together perfectly.
There were a number of special touches to the reception: the couple recited vows to each other; the bride’s sister played a viola solo; the groom’s family did a Bollywood-style dance; and it was announced that the newlyweds planned to give a portion of the gifts to international charities.
The five-tier wedding cake was done in a white brushed frosting design, decorated with red and pink roses and topped with an ornament bearing the couple’s first names.
We wish them nothing but the best in their future together!
