March 6, 2014 celebrated a beautiful couple on a beautiful spring day. Matt and Rana met while pursuing their Masters Degrees at ASU in agriculture and business. For her wedding day, the bride wore a stylish wedding gown of lace, which was fitted to the knee before finishing in ruffles. Sheer lace sleeves added to the elegant simplicity of this gown. Rana wore her hair down. By her side were her bridesmaids in black strapless gowns. All carried bouquets that showcased red, white and yellow roses. To meet his bride, Matt wore a black tuxedo with black bowtie and red rose in his lapel. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos with black ties and white shirts.
Guests were welcomed to the ceremony by a table decorated with the couple’s initials. I lieu of a traditional guest book, a black poster with silver filigree invited guests to leave a message for the couple.
The couple chose an indoor wedding ceremony to make their love official. Their officiant read Oh, the Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss. During the ceremony Matt presented Rana with a stunning gold necklace and earrings.
At the reception the best man and maid of honor gave toasts. The couple’s first dance was to Harry Conick Jr.’s Nice N Easy. The dance was choreographed to reflect the couple’s individual cultures. The first dance was followed by the father/daughter dance to A Wink and a Smile also by Harry Conick Jr. For the reception, Rana changed into a party gown to make it easier to hit the dance floor!
The wedding cake deserves a special mention as it looked like something from a royal wedding. Stepping away from the traditional white cake, this four-tiered affair was frosted in maroon fondant with gold decoration and roping. A white cameo held the initial ‘A.’ On top, sat white flowers.
For entertainment during the reception, a belly dancer performed. Beyond the entertainment, a treat table was laid out for guests to enjoy. Favors were small glass jars accented with copper containing candy with a ‘Thank you’ tag.
Congratulations Rana and Matt. May your life together be more than Nice N Easy, may it be filled with beauty, love and laughter. We wish you the best.
