Villa Siena was honored to welcome Selina & Derek for their wedding celebration and reception January 11, 2014. The wedding came as no surprise to anyone as Derek was sure to get an acceptance on his proposal when he took Selina up in a hot air balloon.
As guests entered, leis of flowers draped chandeliers. The altar was thriving with bouquets of flowers, glowing with candles. A fire burned in the fireplace. Instead of a runner on the aisle, rose petals had been painstakingly laid out in a curlicue pattern. At the edge of each aisle was a tall standing vase filled with water; a single candle burned on top. During the ceremony the couple lit a unity candle and exchanged roses. I Corinthians was read. A string quartet played during the ceremony.
For the ceremony Derek wore a grey tuxedo. The look was accented with an ice blue tie and ice blue and white patterned vest. The groomsmen were attired to match the groom.
Selina was radiant in a lace mermaid style wedding dress that laced up the back corset-style. The dress showcased a diamond belt and cathedral length train. While the bride sparkled all day, her diamond accessories brought a twinkle to her ensemble. Her veil added the finishing touch with scalloped lace edging. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of white roses and blue orchids. Bridesmaids were dressed in blue dresses with white lace overlays with a single shoulder strap. They carried bouquets similar to the bride’s.
After the ceremony a video of the couple’s proposal story played so guests could ‘join’ them on their journey.
The couple’s first dance was to Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years. Both the maid of honor and the best man gave speeches.
Each detail of the day was carefully thought out. The reception showcased white flowing fabric coverings on the chairs, fastened with crystals, sparkling webbed linens and vases encrusted with crystals overflowing with lilies, orchids, roses and hydrangeas. On the wall shone the couple’s name and date of marriage. Even the cake was exquisite alternating blue and white tiers with flowers in white and blue accents. On top was sat a crystal ‘S’. Guests celebrated a beautiful night and were treated to stem-less wine glasses as favors.
Congratulations Selina and Derek. May each moment together shine with love. We wish you the best.
