Athena and Brady were married on Sunday, September 4, 2016.
Athena modeled a David’s Bridal wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline, ballgown skirt, and an elegant, bejeweled belt. The gown was accented with a bedazzled headband in the bride’s brunette updo, and teardrop diamond earrings. She held a posy-tied bouquet of lavender and cream-colored roses. Her six bridesmaid donned lavender, knee-length dresses with halter necklines and nude-colored heels – and each had a stylish updo.
Brady and his groomsmen wore dove gray, two-piece suits with white dress shirts and black shoes. Brady sported a dark-purple bowtie and a white rose on his lapel, while the six groomsmen wore lavender-colored bowties and pinned roses on their jackets.
The outdoor wedding ceremony was held at the end of a white aisle runner strewn in white rose petals. A photo of Athena and Brady’s three dogs greeted guests with the caption “Today our parents are getting married!” During the ceremony, Athena and Brady talked about how their dogs brought them together.
Dinner started with bread and a mixed green salad, followed by garlic-herb grilled chicken or herb-crusted pork with a champagne mustard and apricot glaze. Sides included grilled vegetables and herb-roasted red potatoes. For dessert, a lavender-themed candy bar was offered to guests, as well as the four-tiered wedding cake. The red velvet, chocolate, and white-flavored cake was frosted white with white piping, and accented with gold trim and large white and lavender roses.
During toasts, the Best Man – who has known Brady since Pop Warner football in eighth grade – congratulated the couple, as did the Maid of Honor, who once worked with Athena and has been friends with her for over 10 years. The Father of the Bride talked about how grateful he is for Brady because he loves his daughter and treats her well, and the Father of the Groom wished the new couple the best of luck in their marriage.
Athena and Brady’s First Dance was to “Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington Jr. and Bill Withers. The Mother/Son Dance was to Enya’s “Only Time,” and the Father/Daughter Dance was to Eric Clapton’s “My Father’s Eyes.” The bride and groom also shared a dance to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley with their wedding guests.
We wish Athena, Brady, and their pups all the best!
