A “Rustic Rose” Romance
When Breanna and DJ told us they wanted to have a rustic, forest-themed wedding, we were absolutely thrilled. After all, forests aren’t something we see a lot of here in Arizona! But this couple’s wedding, with its nature-inspired color palette of rose and green, was a rustic dream that warmed our hearts.
The wedding party was dressed in shades of pink and gray; the bridesmaids wore long, rose-colored gowns, while the groomsmen wore grey suits with rose ties. For touches of green, the bridesmaids carried bouquets of roses overflowing with greenery, and the Plaza Toscana was filled with gorgeous floral arrangements.
DJ’s dark gray suit was a nice, subtle contrast from his groomsmen, helping set him apart from his buddies. Breanna’s Pronovias gown was breathtaking, with a sweetheart neckline, mermaid silhouette, and a long train embroidered with lace. When she walked down the aisle, everyone had a big smile on their faces (DJ most of all)!
The ceremony was a delightful blend of light humor, sweet romance, and religious tradition. To kick things off, the bride and groom each took a shot of Fireball whiskey, and their officiant cracked jokes in between scripture readings. Breanna and DJ read their own vows — which left more than a few guests misty-eyed — and participated in a three-cord braiding ceremony (a religious tradition that represents the three entities in their marriage: the bride, the groom, and God).
Finally, the officiant told DJ to kiss his bride. Just like that, Breanna and DJ were husband and wife — hooray!
After the ceremony, guests headed indoors for a dancing, drinks, and a delicious meal: southwestern salad, twice baked potatoes, fresh steamed veggies, and a choice of grilled chipotle chicken with pineapple, peach, and mango salsa or atlantic salmon with hollandaise and lemon dill beurre blanc.
Everyone spent the evening dancing, laughing, and simply enjoying each other’s company. It was a beautiful wedding, and we believe this evening will be the start of a beautiful life together for Mr. and Mrs. Peterson!
