Diana made Don’s graduation cap, which was all gold. She spent a lot of time on it and that gesture of love carried through with the couple marrying December 18, 2015. The ceremony was celebrated as an ‘unplugged’ ceremony where they asked all guests to turn off cell phones, put away cameras and simply be fully present for the entire day.
Guests traveled from around the world to celebrate with Diana and Don. On the guest welcome table were pictures of the couple’s parents. There was a scrapbook for the bride and groom and a photo booth for guests to capture a memorable moment or two.
Diana’s dress came from Allure bridal. The gown had a beaded bodice and full skirt. Over the dress she wore a shawl for the ceremony and a pink faux fur jacket afterwards. She carried a bouquet of brooches made by her sister. Her bridesmaids wore pale pink gowns from David’s Bridal. Don was dressed in a black tuxedo with piping and a black vest and tie and white shirt. The groomsmen were all in black tuxedos with white shirts and ties. The wedding epitomized the love the couple shares with others with 9 bridesmaids and groomsmen.
A mariachi band played during the processional, recessional and cocktail hour. The ceremony included a moment of silence for the couple’s grandparents who had passed away and an empty seat with a lit candle ‘in memory of those who cannot be here today.’
Don’s Aunt said grace and gave the blessing for dinner. The wedding cake had white buttercream frosting with piping on the cake. During speeches the brother of the groom described Diana and Don as an eagle and the sky. Diana’s sister offered words of wisdom from Bob Marley.
The couple played the newlywed game at the reception. On the wall the couple’s name and initial with the newlywed’s family crest shone brightly.
Favors were boxes of candy and monogrammed goblets for the wedding party.
The night ended with a signature sparkler farewell. Congratulations Diana and Don. May that first spark of love remind you of the possibilities and joy true love brings. We wish you the best.
