Emily and Matthew met through Matt’s brother who was in pharmacy school with Emily. During their reception Matt’s brother talked about the couple’s engagement and how they met, claiming Emily kept ‘studying’ with him because she liked Matthew.
When the two decided to wed, they chose Villa Siena for their celebration. On their wedding day, Emily and Matthew encouraged ‘Friends of the bride, friends of the groom, please sit together, there is plenty of room.’ The outdoor ceremony took place beneath an altar decorated with red flower petals and fresh garland that wove orange lilies and maroon roses around greenery. Lit candles enhanced the look.
Emily surrounded herself with her closest friends and family for her bridal party. The Maid of Honor was her best friend since she was 11 while her Matron of Honor was Emily’s older sister. For the ceremony Emily chose a sleeveless lace gown with empire waist and long train. The dress had a keyhole opening in back with cathedral length train and lace edging. Her bridesmaids wore red strapless gowns and carried bouquets of burnt orange and maroon calla lilies and roses. The bridal bouquet incorporated yellow along with orange and maroon. For his wedding day, Matthew wore a black suit with red and grey striped tie. His groomsmen were in grey suits with ties. All wore black, red and white argyle socks.
To begin the ceremony, a flower girl in a gold and white dress tossed flower petals down the aisle. The ceremony was beautiful. Afterwards, the outdoor area transformed from the ceremonial site to an outdoor dining area. Guests were ushered to the reception area, where a sign stated, You can find your seat here, but your place is on the dance floor. Tables were set with gold candleholders and vases with succulents, roses and calla lilies. A cigar bar was available.
Emily and Matthew celebrated their wedding with a first dance to Adele’s To Make You Feel My Love, followed by mother and son joining together on the dance floor for I Hope You Dance.
After dancing the sweet treats came. The wedding cake showcased four tiers of white cake with scattered gold beads, dark red roses on top and a ‘G’ monogram. Favors were boxed macaroons. In order to share memories of the day the couple set up the hashtag #gundeenwedding.
Congratulations Emily and Matthew. May the love you feel for one another blossom throughout the years to come. We wish you the best.
