Rarely do we get to indulge in the glamour and extravagance of royalty, bedecked in gowns and jewels, however, Jonett’s fifteenth birthday was an exception. Villa Siena welcomed over 250 people to our grounds June 2nd, 2012, in celebration of Jonett. People filtered in throughout the day and night and were greeted by a vision of loveliness as Jonett mingled with guests in a layered gown of royal blue silk with gold embroidery. She looked like a princess with her elaborate headpiece of beaded gold and green, which sat atop black hair that cascaded into a train of perfect curls. Her eyes sparkled as she walked through the gardens, reminding us that royalty still walks amongst us. Her choice of dress perfectly suited the architecture of the Villa. The photographer had no shortage of backdrops to capture Jonett’s spirit. The color scheme of the day was royal blue, turquoise and gold, and could be found throughout the décor, from the sheer turquoise ribbons tied around chairs with gold decorative clasps to the table cloths, flowers and cake. Tall centerpieces held a variety of orange, green, blue and pink flowers embellished with a Venetian mask. The cake played into the theme of the party with four layers of alternating fleur-de-lis, harlequins and jester tips finished with a pillow-top layer of cake cradling a Venetian mask on it. The feel was one of Romeo and Juliet – mystery, beauty and intrigue. Jonett carried a golden mask with which she could hide her identity from suitors although, bedecked as she was, all eyes were on her during the ceremony. To entertain the guests, Jonett first danced with her proud father before the real entertainment began. The first choreographed dance found Jonett joined by five of her male friends in tuxedos with gold bowties and handkerchiefs. For the second number, Jonett shed her gown and donned a tutu, wowing guests with a choreographed dance with four female friends. While Jonett’s ensemble was reminiscent of another era, the food was the simple delight of today’s feasts with spinach stuffed chicken, beef tenderloin, veggies and mashed potatoes. Guests took home glass jars with Hershey kisses. And of course, what princess could leave without a horse drawn carriage, or at least the modern day version of it, a limousine bus, which is more comfortable and a lot more convenient. Happy Birthday, Jonett. Thank you for sharing your day with us.
