August 17, 2013 marked the marriage of Mary and George. The couple lived apart for most of their relationship while George was on medical school rotation. However, the time apart did nothing to diminish the couple’s love for one another.
The wedding ceremony was held indoors with candles and purple flower petals lining the aisles. Chairs were wrapped with purple bows. On the altar sat a cross.
George wore a grey tuxedo with a white shirt and tie. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos with turquoise ties. To begin the ceremony two flower girls sprinkled the aisle with flower petals for the bride. Then the bridesmaids began the processional in turquoise floor-length dresses. Their bouquets were a mix of spider mums, roses, hydrangeas and snapdragons in purple, magenta, green, teal and white.
Mary was radiant as she joined her groom wearing a gown with lace bodice, cap sleeves, beaded belt and a full A-line skirt. Her shoes shimmered with crystals. The bride’s bouquet mixed assorted flowers in shades of purple.
During the ceremony Raseena Jacob sang Not For A Moment while the unity candle was lit. The officiant quoted the bible throughout the ceremony. A special reading of the scripture was done by Sam and Manja.
For the reception Mary changed into an elegant turquoise and gold sari.
At the reception, the couple’s name shone in lights on the wall. Purple tablecloths with turquoise candles on top made the room light up with the couple’s spirit.
The couple’s first dance was to Come Away With Me by Norah Jones, followed by traditional Indian dances. During speeches the brother of the groom talked about what a wonderful role model George was while the bride’s sister honored Mary for always being there for them.
The chocolate cake with vanilla frosting alternated purple and white layers over four tiers with a rhinestone ‘R’ topper. Small square tins filled with candy were the favors.
On the back of the couple’s car was written The first day of the rest of your lives. Congratulations Mary and George. May the beauty of your souls bring beauty to every aspect of your lives together.
