September 26, Melissa and JD were married by a family friend at Villa Siena. The couple originally met at the Silver Leaf Country Club where they both worked. Before the ceremony the couple read letters they had written to each other, each on one side of a wall.

Melissa’s wedding gown was designed by Enzoani and purchased at Uptown Bridal. The strapless dress was fitted to the hips where a ruffled skirt flared out. A veil flowed over the bride’s hair but was changed during the reception to a feather fascinator. Tucked into the under layers of the dress was a white handkerchief with blue embroidery. The bride’s shoes were pale pink satin with a rose design and had a back up pair of customized flip flops. Hidden out of sight was a garter embellished with crystals. Down the aisle, Melissa carried a bouquet of pink and white roses with calla lilies wrapped in tulle.

Complimenting the romantic color scheme, the bridesmaid’s dresses were pale pink with empire waists finishing above the knee. The groomsmen chose the classic combination of black tuxedos with white shirts and ties while JD wore a black tuxedo with teal vest and paisley tie.

The couple took dance lessons for their choreographed first dance to You Have Stolen My Heart. The father & daughter dance followed which was also choreographed. JD danced first with his grandmother until the song changed to In My Life, I Love You More by the Beatles, which he danced with his mother. The couple’s closeness to their grandparents was reflected in the date they chose to wed, which was also their grandparent’s anniversary.

Speeches were lively with the brother of the groom talking about fighting with JD as kids and acknowledging that not only would Melissa never be bored with JD but that her new husband would never let her down. In fact, JD’s brother went as far as to say that Melissa had turned him into a “sap.” The maid of honor told the guests how she knew JD was the one from the beginning. During the speeches Psalm 16 was read, encouraging the couple to trust in God.

After dinner the wedding cake was carved. The couple chose three tiers of white round cake with fondant initials on the 2nd tier, piping detail on the bottom and fresh flowers on top. Each tier was wrapped with grey ribbon. A candy table filled with pink and gold treats served for favors.

Congratulations Melissa and DJ. May your love make you feel like your feet will never touch the ground. We wish you the best.
