Shaida and Michael met on their first day of medical school, and were married on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
Shaida modeled a white Maggie Sotero wedding gown with a cinched back and extended train, completed with a set of pearls around her neck. She held a posy-tied bouquet of white and soft pink hydrangeas. Her four bridesmaids held round bouquets of white hydrangeas, and donned boat neck, floor-length sheath gowns covered in shimmering gold sequin. Michael sported a black, two-piece suit with a white shirt complemented with black suspenders and a black bowtie.
Shaida and Michael’s outdoor wedding ceremony was accompanied by live harp music, while the fireplace was lead to by a white aisle runner flanked with white rose petals. The officiant asked the new couple to do the little things for each other, and lamented how they’ve faced many challenges together, and will face many more. Shaida’s cousin then said a prayer, and blessed the marriage.
A plated dinner was later served, consisting of mixed greens with balsamic dressing, and followed by filet mignon, grilled Atlantic salmon, grilled vegetables, and herb-roasted mashed potatoes. Dessert included a decorative candy table, and a four-tiered, white wedding cake with detailed icing, a large white bow, and a cake topper of white hydrangeas. There was also a traditional Persian dessert table.
The Maid of Honor was Shaida’s sister, who gave a toast that included the story of when she first knew her sister was in love. Michael’s brother Evan spoke, and expressed how Arizona was a very special place for their family. Michael’s best friend Andrew also spoke, expressing how Mike has always been like a brother to him.
Shaida and Michael’s first dance was to “Bad Case of Loving You” by Robert Palmer. The Father/Daughter Dance was to “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion, while the Mother/Son Dance was to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts.
The lively affair also featured a record player during cocktail hour, followed by an energetic reception with a photobooth and plenty of conga lines. We wished all the best to the new couple as they left under the signature sparkler farewell. Thanks to Shaida and Michael!
