Valerie and Steven met at a company softball tournament in Flagstaff, and were married on December 3, 2016.
Valerie’s Melissa Sweet dress was purchased at David’s Bridal. The strapless ball gown was accented by extra custom beading and a belt sewn into the dress. Her bouquet featured an array of flowers in shades of white, ivory, and pinks, with greenery mixed in throughout. Valerie’s maid of honor wore an ivory dress, while her other five bridesmaids wore coordinating gowns in shades of blush and pink. The bridesmaids’ bouquets featured blooms in pale pink, bright pink, red, and purple.
Steven and his seven groomsmen looked sharp in black suits. The groom sported a black tie and a light pink rose boutonniere, while the rest of the party donned ivory ties and bright pink rose boutonnieres.
The guests signed wooden hearts in honor of the couple’s big day, and took home favors of personalized drink coozies to commemorate the wedding.
Dinner began with hors d’oeuvres, including tortilla horns filled with chicken and shredded beef empanaditas. Guests dined on salads of baby greens with raspberry vinaigrette before the main course options, which were grilled chicken with chipotle glaze or beef tenderloin with cognac cream, with potatoes au gratin and green beans almandine on the side.
During the speeches, Valerie’s older sister, the maid of honor, shared her love and excitement for the newlyweds, and also told the guests how lucky Steven was to get such a good cook for a wife. Steven’s best man, who he’s known for more than 20 years, shared stories about the groom and wished him and the bride lots of love and happiness. The groom’s mother spoke about how wonderful Valerie and Steven both are, while his father welcomed Valerie to the family, thanked the guests for coming, and hinted that he couldn’t wait for grandchildren.
Valerie and Steven danced their first dance to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.
Before the signature sparkler send-off, everyone enjoyed the wedding cake, a four-tiered affair with one gold tier, floral accents, and a customized topper. The groom’s cake, a bass on a hook, reflected Steven’s love of fishing.
Valerie and Steven spent their honeymoon in Fiji, and we wish them all the best in their new life as a married couple!
